How can the City afford to purchase a SUV for a patrol car during this economic crunch? |
The SUV and the newest patrol car are both being purchased through a Local Criminal Justice Fund supported from outside the General Fund. In 2005, the Cowlitz County Commissioners raised the County wide sales tax rate by 1/10 of 1% for a dedicated Law Enforcement fund. These funds cannot be used to supplant or replace existing General Fund expenses. Castle Rock receives about $30,000 per year from this fund. |
