Castle Rock Police Ride-Along Program

The purpose of the ride along program is to allow civilian observers to ride with and observe police officers at work both in the office and in the patrol vehicle. Before being allowed to ride along, citizens must first complete an application form and liability waiver releasing the city of Castle Rock and city employees from liability arising out of such participation.

The ride along application should be completed and returned to the police clerk during regular business hours (9 am - 5 pm). Once the form is returned completed, a criminal history check will be completed on them. The Chief or his designee will approve/disapprove the request and forward the application to the police sgt for assignment to an officer. The citizen will be called and informed that he will be contacted in order to schedule the appropriate time.

During a ride along, dress will be neat and appropriate for any occasion. It will sometimes be necessary for the rider to be out of the patrol vehicle for an extended amount of time, and sutible clothing should be brought for all weather. Riders who observe patrol officers will be given body armor to wear during the shift.

NO WEAPONS WILL BE CARRIED OF ANY KIND BY THE RIDER.
